PhD in Pediatric Sciences

Coordinator: Prof. Pasquale Striano

The Research Doctorate in Pediatric Sciences is characterized as an innovative Doctorate with an intersectoral characterization, being in agreement with the IRCCS Pediatric Giannina Gaslini.
The objective of the Doctorate is to provide the theoretical knowledge and tools to carry out an individual research program, under the guidance of one of the Professors (Tutor), in the field of health sciences in pediatric age, in the perinatal period and in the adult age. evolutionary.
The research may be of a clinical or laboratory nature with translational purposes and must be described in at least one publication in which the doctoral student appears as first author.

The Doctorate is divided into six curricula:

The curricula reported highlight some sectors in which the teachers are particularly qualified in the field of Pediatric Sciences in agreement with the IRCCS Gaslini. This represents a particularly strong element of the proposed training program which will allow the carrying out of highly qualified research and clinical activities. In this context, doctoral students will find the most suitable scientific environment for the progressive development of their knowledge and a set of specialized laboratories and clinical departments.
As regards scientific instrumentation, PhD students will be able to use equipment of particular relevance and complexity present in "core facilities", from new generation sequencing, to confocal microscopy, to flow cytometry and cell sorting, to mass spectrometry. Furthermore, they will be able to collaborate with personnel expert in epidemiology and bio-medical statistics.
