Brain neurophysiology lab
The brain neurophysiology lab aims at evaluating the electrophysiology features of the central nervous system, during wake and sleep states, through advanced and innovative technology. In detail, the lab relies on third level equipment, such as high-density electroencephalography and video-polysomnography. The brain neurophysiology lab is part of the Clinical Neurophysiology unit of the IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino, directed by Dott Villani Flavio.
The current most active research topics include:
- REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), as a prodromal stage of alpha-synucleinopathies
- Sleep-related epilepsy
- Autoimmune epilepsy and encephalitis
- Braint tumor related epilepsy (BTRE)
- Narcolepsy
The brain neurophysiology lab is part of the Sleep and Epilepsy Genoa research group (SL&EP) and, in collaboration with the Child Neurology unit of the IRCCS Gaslini, directed by Prof Lino Nobili, aims at evaluating sleep and epilepsy across the life span.
